Here are the photos for our last few days - from our drive from Indianapolis to Brunswick, Maryland, and our time here in Brunswick. We stopped at a rest stop in eastern Ohio, just a few miles from the West Virginia border on I-70. Had a nice picnic lunch and the kids had races up a small hill. Glorious day - sunny & warm.
The McDonald's pics are where we had dinner towards the end of our drive, Friday. The picturesque down of Cumberland, Maryland. The pictures really don't capture the cuteness of it. The kids are showing off their newly acquired Happy Meal toys. Thanks Grandma & Grandpa!
The real excitement of dinner though was our dining compatriots. It's probably not wise to go into details here, but we can provide them privately if you ask. That's all to say, Gena nearly wet herself laughing/trying not to laugh at some of my goofiness - both intentional and unintentional. It was a narrow escape on many levels.
Saturday we went with Gena's aunt & uncle to visit Harper's Ferry, which is probably about five miles away from their home. Lovely little scenic town. I'm sure the history is fascinating as well, but we were riding herd on some pretty rambunctious young 'uns that day, as you can see from the photos. The water shot is Mika's. We all gathered and posed in front of the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, and she just looked at us like we were nuts. "I don't want to take a picture of you" she informed us. Seeing the result, I can't say as I blame her. I have no explanation for Caedmon's pose, but he looks huge.
It was windy at Harper's Ferry, so Caedmon demonstrated the origins of the phrase "hang on to your hat". There was a church at Harper's Ferry as well. We had a snack there, and managed not to destroy very much of it. The rock pictures are of Jefferson Rock, a historical site whose significance I completely missed because of freaking out at our kids leaping all over the place next to ravines and big freakin' rivers.
We pray that you've had no such concerns of late.
