Wednesday June 2, 2010 - Jackson, Wyoming

Today's excursion was to the National Museum of Wildlife Art. It's located on the other side of Jackson from where we're staying, and Lily recommended it as a place that might be interesting for both kids and adults. The museum is gorgeous itself, situated halfway up a hill that overlooks US-26 and most of the Jackson Hole valley. There are massive wildlife statues dotted around the outside of the building and the entrance, hinting at the impressiveness within.

Mika really seemed to enjoy her visit. We were given free audio wands with our admission, and she greatly enjoyed punching in the numbers of the various paintings or sculptures and listening to the audio details provided. Alec & Caedmon weren't nearly as interested in the exhibits. They preferred to spend the bulk of their time in the kids area, playing with puppets, drawing, and doing a little reading about different types of animals. They were all equally disgusted with the fact that there were examples of different types of animal droppings under glass. I can't say as I blame them.

The boys found additional relief watching a nature video in a mini-theater. But once that was over, it was pretty much time to hit the road.
